There are several programs available to help you keep your child excited about reading over the summer.  Children need to practice the reading skills that they have learned during the school year so that they will be fully prepared to enter their next grade in August.  Below you will find information about three fun programs that feature activities and incentives to keep your child interested and motivated during the summer break.

Phoenix Public Library:  Join the Phoenix Public Library summer reading fun from June 1st through August 1st.  This year's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story".  Kids can participate online and track reading success to earn prizes and to have the chance to win additional weekly drawing prizes.  You can register online at maricopacountyreads.org.  For more information visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org or call 602-262-4636.

Barnes & Noble:  Barnes & Noble invites your child to participate in this year's summer reading program "Imagination's Destination".  This program encourages students to let books transport them to the most exciting destination of all - the imagination.  Activities in the Summer Reading kit are designed to reinforce learning and nurture skills.  You can register for this program by visiting BN.COM/summerreading.

Bookmans:  Bookmans Kids Club gives kids up through 12 years old a 10% discount on anything at their entertainment exchanges.  In addition, they will send you a $10 gift certificate each year on your birthday!  You can also participate in the Read 10 Get 1 Free program.  This program runs year-round and you can enroll online at http://bookmans.com/signup or visit the Bookmans location at 8034 N. 19th Ave.
